American Traveler is seeking an experienced Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) for an inpatient rehab assignment working with adult and geriatric patients, requiring a MA license and BLS certification.

Details

• Work in an inpatient rehab unit within a community hospital setting
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with an average daily census of 15
• Common diagnoses include stroke and infectious respiratory disease
• Main focus on adult dysphagia and related therapy
• Shift is 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, five days per week with every other weekend required (Sat/Sun, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM)
• Call coverage is required
• Block scheduling is used
• Utilizes Meditech Expanse for documentation and Pyxis for medication management; Tiger Text for communication
• Provider support available through interpretation services, respiratory services, and unit secretary

Requirements

• Active MA SLPA license required if applicable
• Current BLS certification required
• CCC-SLP and MBSImP certifications required
• Minimum of 1 year inpatient rehab experience required
• Experience working in acute care or adult outpatient settings required
• Experience managing a 1:15 patient ratio is required
• Previous charge experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Teaching hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

• Main responsibilities include bedside swallow evaluations, dysphagia management, and modification of diet orders
• Duties involve billing and point of service documentation, concurrent therapy, evaluation, discharge, and planning of care
• Must be able to recognize patient safety concerns including signs of abuse
• Supportive team environment with ancillary staff assistance
