American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric Cardiovascular ICU (CVPICU) position at a top-ranked children's hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience and an IN or Compact RN license in hand.

Details

• 23-bed Cardiac ICU within a nationally ranked children's hospital (#5 in the nation, #1 in the Midwest for the past 2 years per USNWR)
• Cares for complex congenital and acquired heart disease patients, including VAD patients and heart transplant recipients
• Patient ratio of 1:1–2
• Shift: Nights, 3x12s or 4x12s (7:00 PM–7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend required
• Floating required to cardiac stepdown unit and PICU
• Charting system: Cerner (experience required)

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required (AHA or RQI accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• CVPICU or PICU experience required; PICU RNs will be considered with training provided on CVPICU
• Proficiency with telemetry and mechanical ventilators required
• Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited university required
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration
• Must be able to float within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals

Additional Information

• Responsibilities include care of complex cardiac patients, post-cardiac surgery patients, and hemodynamic monitoring
• Skills utilized include management of VADs, PA pressure lines, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, ICP monitoring, chest tube management, ventilator care, tracheostomy care, and IV therapy
• Local candidates (Indiana residents) are not accepted for this ICU position
• IN RN license holders are not eligible to work at this facility, with the exception of Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
• RTO of 5 days or fewer may be auto-approved; requests exceeding 5 days require facility approval
• Candidates must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break in employment before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset travel eligibility; out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break prior to their year mark
