American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for a Transplant Operating Room position at a short-term acute care teaching hospital in Indiana, requiring a minimum of 2 years of transplant experience and an active IN or compact RN license.

Details

• Works in the Operating Room of a short-term acute care hospital specializing exclusively in abdominal transplants, including kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral procedures
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• On-call is required at approximately 40–60 hours per 6-week period
• Floating is required for all travelers within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals across multiple specialties and all surgery types
• Charting is performed in Cerner
• Parking is complimentary

Requirements

• Active IN RN license, temporary IN license, or compact RN license required — must be in hand prior to start
• Nursing degree from an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited university required
• Minimum 2 years of strong transplant OR experience required (hard stop)
• Current BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted) required
• Regulatory charting for transplants required
• Proficiency in general surgery skills including laparoscopic procedures, organ donation, and scrubbing transplant cases required
• Cerner EMR experience required
• 2 supervisor references required for consideration
• SSN and DOB required for consideration

Additional Information

• This unit performs abdominal transplants only — kidney, pancreas, liver, and intestinal/multi-visceral; pediatric transplants are performed at a separate facility and are not part of this assignment
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply, provided they have a minimum of 2 years of strong transplant experience
• Must be available to work 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Up to 5 days of non-holiday RTO can be auto-approved; additional RTO requires facility approval
• Indiana residents are accepted as local travelers for this Perioperative Surgical Services position
• Effective March 1, 2026, Indiana residents are no longer eligible to begin new contracts for OR RN (including Transplant) roles at this facility
• Any current or former permanent or PRN employee of IU Health must have a 12-month break in employment before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers who have accrued 12 months of travel employment anywhere within IU Health are required to take a consecutive break to reset travel eligibility — out-of-state residents require a 90-day break and in-state residents require a 180-day break prior to reaching the one-year mark
