American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Psychiatric Services night shift position in Maine, requiring at least 1 year of mental health nursing experience and current CPI certification.

Details

• Emergency Psychiatric Services department within a hospital setting
• Patient population includes individuals ages 5 and up with psychiatric illnesses, including major depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment disorder, psychotic disorders, and detoxification needs
• Some patients may also present with medical care needs alongside psychiatric diagnoses
• Night shift: 7p-7a
• 13-week contract
• Flexibility required to support 24/7 departmental coverage

Requirements

• Active Maine RN license (ME state or Compact) currently in hand
• Minimum certifications required: BLS and CPI (must be current prior to start)
• Associate's degree (2-year) in Nursing required
• Minimum 1 year of mental health nursing experience required
• Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to manage stress and make sound decisions under pressure
• Must have a clean licensure history — any licensure hits will disqualify a candidate from consideration

Additional Information

• Responsible for direct and indirect patient care through the nursing process across all assigned areas
• Develops and periodically updates individualized, interdisciplinary care plans for psychiatric patients
• Evaluates patient outcomes and identifies available resources to support patient needs
• Works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team in a comprehensive behavioral healthcare environment
• Previous employees of St. Mary's Regional Medical Center are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates are accepted but will be offered a lower local pay rate
• First-time travelers are not explicitly excluded, but a minimum of 1 year of mental health nursing experience is required
