American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Home Health & Hospice position in Michigan requiring recent home health experience, OASIS proficiency, and wound care skills.

Details

• Home health and hospice post-acute care setting
• Patient population includes home health and hospice patients with diagnoses such as CHF, diabetes, renal disease, wound care needs, IV therapy, and management of drains and other devices
• Typical day involves approximately 6 points of care, including an admission plus 3-4 patient visits
• Travel RNs are required to perform Start of Care (SOC), re-certifications, and resumptions
• CNA support staff are available within the department
• Primary hospice patient assignments are not typical for travel nurses, though travel nurses may be asked to see hospice patients during on-call shifts
• EMR: Cerner, transitioning to Epic
• 13-week assignment
• Day shift, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with 8-hour shifts
• Rotating weekend schedule, approximately every 4th or 5th weekend
• One evening on-call per week and one weekend on-call per month

Requirements

• Active MI RN license required by start date
• BLS certification (AHA) required and must be active
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Recent home health experience within the last 2 years is required
• OASIS documentation proficiency required
• Wound care experience required
• Strong infection control practices in a home environment required
• 2 professional references required: 1 supervisor reference from within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and 1 peer or supervisor reference from within the last 3 years of relevant experience

Additional Information

• Provide skilled nursing care to home health and hospice patients in a home-based setting, including wound care, IV therapy, and management of drains and devices
• After-hours support is available from an administrator, RN coordinator, or office support supervisor
• Scheduling is managed by the office; travel nurses work 5 days per week unless on a rotating weekend, in which case a day off is provided before and after the weekend
• Holiday coverage required for up to two holidays per year
• Any solid color, clean and professional scrubs are acceptable
• Candidates who have previously worked for this health system as permanent staff must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their start date, and facility approval is required
• Local candidates (residing within 80 miles of the facility) are eligible but will receive a reduced travel pay rate
