American Traveler is hiring a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) with a minimum of 2 years of long-term care experience for a day shift position in Abilene, TX.

Details

• Long-term care (LTC) / skilled nursing facility setting
• Day shift, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week
• No weekend or on-call requirements
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX OTA license or compact license required (license required if applicable)
• Minimum 2 years of OTA experience in a long-term care setting
• DOR (Daily Occupancy Report) experience preferred

Additional Information

• Implements specialized therapy plans developed by the supervising OT, guiding patients through therapeutic exercises to improve motor skills and coordination
• Provides ADL training including bathing, dressing, and eating using adaptive techniques
• Instructs patients and families on the use of adaptive equipment such as reachers, mobility aids, and modified utensils
• Documents patient progress, behavioral changes, and safety concerns and reports findings to the supervising OT
• Supports caregivers by training them on home programs and provides emotional encouragement to patients
• Handles operational tasks including preparing treatment areas, cleaning equipment, and administrative duties such as scheduling
• Candidates previously employed by the facility within the last 12 months may not be eligible for this position
