American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stroke/Neuro PCU position at a Level I Trauma, Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring Epic proficiency and neuro PCU experience.

Details

• Work in a Stroke/Neuroscience PCU (12 West) specializing in hospitalist medicine, stroke, and neurology patients at a Joint Commission certified primary stroke center
• Large acute care facility with over 700 licensed beds, designated as a Level I Trauma Center, Magnet-recognized, and affiliated with a medical school
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
• Weekend requirement: every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
• One holiday shift required per 13-week contract
• Typical patient ratio is 1:5, with a staffing goal of 1:4
• IV drips managed include Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose Dopamine/Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix, Lidocaine, and Ketamine (no titration required)
• Remote telemetry monitoring with monitors remaining on the unit; tele sitting used to supplement Patient Care Tech coverage
• Floating within skillset is required
• Epic EMR experience required
• Local candidates are accepted

Requirements

• Active Virginia State RN license or Compact RN license currently in hand; a pending license is accepted only if the candidate holds a single-state license from a non-compact state
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Neuro PCU experience required
• Proficiency in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and emergency response
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
• Ability to administer cardiac drips (no titration)
• Experience with respiratory support including nasal cannula, oxygen administration, and non-invasive airway management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and telemetry settings across PCU, IMC, and stepdown environments
• Epic EMR experience required
• Valid driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration
• Two professional references required for consideration

• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week period
