American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intermediate Care position on a 3C IMCU/PICU unit, requiring PICU experience and Epic proficiency for a 13-week night shift contract in Arkansas.

Details

• Position is located on the 3C Intermediate Care (IMCU/PICU) unit, a 26-bed PICU and 13-bed IMCU pediatric facility
• PICU patient population includes respiratory distress, CRRT, ECMO, post-arrest, trauma (blunt and penetrating), neurological, surgical post-ops, urology, orthopedics, ENT (trach revisions, occasional cleft lip/palate), burns (intubated patients under 13 years), and new onset DKA
• IMCU patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, trachs, and patients stepped down from the PICU
• Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1–2 in the PICU and 1:3–4 in the IMCU
• CNA/PCT ancillary support available with 1–2 PCTs per shift; Advanced Practice providers present on both units
• PICU staffing includes Residents, Fellows, and Attending MDs; IMCU is supported by Hospitalists until 11 PM, then Residents
• Equipment includes Pyxis with barcode scanning, pharmacy dose dispensing, GE Dash monitors, Servo-I ventilators, and long-term vents in the IMCU; RTs and RNs co-manage ventilators
• EMR is Epic; experience is required
• 12-hour night shifts; schedule is manager/scheduler driven
• Every other weekend is required
• Floating to other units is required as necessary
• No on-call requirements; holiday coverage is required as needed

Requirements

• Active RN license in Arkansas or a compact state license currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required; additional certifications such as ACLS and TNCC may be required based on unit assignment
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required for PICU placement; 2–5 years of clinical experience in the specialty preferred overall
• All IMCU candidates must have prior PICU experience due to floating requirements
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Must be nicotine free
• At least one professional reference within the last year required for consideration

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of approximately 2–3 days, including specialty testing required by the facility
• Child Life and Education specialists are actively involved in assessing each patient's educational needs during prolonged hospitalizations; two parents are permitted at the bedside
• Facility dress code must be followed; dress code details are provided upon onboarding
• Candidates must be dependable and adhere to their assigned schedule
