American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Intermediate Care position at a children's hospital in Arkansas, requiring PICU experience and Epic proficiency on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

• Position is based in the 3C Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) of a pediatric hospital, with floating to the PICU and other units as needed
• The IMCU is a 13-bed unit; the associated PICU is a 26-bed unit
• PICU patient population includes respiratory distress, CRRT, ECMO, post-arrest, trauma (blunt and penetrating), neuro, surgical post-ops, urology, ortho, ENT (trach revision, cleft lip/palate), burns in intubated patients under 13 years, and new onset DKA
• IMCU patient population includes respiratory distress, DKA, chronic vents, trachs, and patients stepped down from the PICU
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: PICU 1:1–2, IMCU 1:3–4
• CNA/PCT ancillary support available with 1–2 PCTs per shift
• Advanced Practice providers on unit; PICU staffed with Residents, Fellows, and Attending MDs; IMCU staffed with Hospitalists until 11PM, then Residents
• EMR is Epic (experience required)
• Equipment includes Pyxis with barcode scanning, pharmacy dose dispensing, GE Dash monitors, Servo-I and long-term vents in the IMCU, and an in-house transport system
• RNs and RTs co-manage ventilators
• 12-hour night shifts
• Schedule is manager/scheduler driven; every other weekend is required
• Holiday coverage required as needed
• No on-call responsibilities

Requirements

• Active RN license in Arkansas or a compact state currently in hand
• Current BLS certification required; additional certifications (ACLS, TNCC, etc.) may be required based on unit assignment
• Minimum 2 years of PICU experience required
• All candidates must have some PICU experience due to floating requirements
• 2–5 years of clinical experience in the specialty preferred
• Epic EMR experience required
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• At least 1 professional reference from within the last year required for consideration
• Candidates must be nicotine-free

Additional Information

• Orientation consists of approximately 2–3 days, including specialty testing
• Child Life and Education specialists are actively involved in assessing each patient's educational needs during prolonged hospitalizations
• Up to 2 parents may remain at the bedside
