American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a night shift Emergency Dept position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of recent ED experience and both MO and KS RN licenses in hand.

• Work in a 32-room Emergency Department at a 240-bed community hospital
• Combined adult and pediatric general ED at a STEMI and Stroke Certified facility
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15
• Weekend requirement: every third weekend, covering 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday)
• Floating may be required to other metro ED locations within the health system as needed
• No on-call responsibilities
• Epic EMR experience required
• Navy scrubs required

Requirements

• Active MO RN license (or Compact) and KS RN license — both must be in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Pediatric skills required: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, identifying and reporting abuse, infections, mental/behavioral health conditions, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, and UTIs
• Psychiatric skills required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric hold, and suicidal patient management
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Respiratory skills required: chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilated patient care
• Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors
• Neurological skills required: CVA management
• Cardiac skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Additional skills required: triage, isolation precautions, and splint application/management
• Preferred skills: near drowning and procedural sedation administration
• Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility
• 2 professional references required: one must be supervisor-level or above, the second may be a charge RN — all references must be from someone who has worked with the candidate within the past year

Additional Information

• 13-week contract
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract duration
• Holiday shift coverage and Charge RN assignments may be required as needed
• Block scheduling is not available
• Local candidates are not accepted; candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• Unwillingness to float to other system ED locations or obtain required licensure may result in assignment cancellation
• Online compliance modules (approximately 10–15 hours total) are required as part of onboarding
