American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a fast-paced Emergency Department position at a STEMI and Stroke Certified community hospital, requiring at least 2 years of recent ED experience and both Kansas and Missouri (or compact) RN licenses.

Details

• Work in a combined adult/pediatric Emergency Department at a 240-bed community hospital with 32 ED rooms
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM (3x12-hour shifts)
• Every third weekend required, covering a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts within a 6-week schedule period
• Charting via Epic (experience required)
• Floating may be required to other metro ED locations within the health system
• No on-call responsibilities
• Block scheduling is not available

Requirements

• Active RN license — both Kansas and Missouri licenses (or a compact license covering both states) must be in hand prior to consideration
• Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 2 years of recent ED specialty experience required, including at least 1 full year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days
• Pediatric skills required: abdominal pain, asthma, burns, epiglottitis, head injury, hyperglycemia, abuse identification/reporting, infections, mental/behavioral health, poison ingestion, respiratory infections, seizures, sickle cell crisis, skin disorders, and UTIs
• Psychiatric skills required: acute psychosis, drug overdose, managing violent behavior, psychiatric hold management, and suicidal patient care
• IV therapy/phlebotomy skills required: arterial line management, blood product administration, central line care/management, phlebotomy, and starting IVs
• Respiratory skills required: chest tube insertion/management, CPAP/BiPAP, ABG interpretation, intubation, and ventilator management
• Medication skills required: continuous IV paralytics, continuous IV sedation, emergency medications, and IV vasopressors
• Neurological skills required: CVA management
• Cardiac and emergency response skills required: dysrhythmia interpretation and management, multisystem organ dysfunction/failure management, and 12-lead EKG acquisition
• Additional skills required: triage, isolation precautions, and splint application/management
• Preferred skills: near drowning (pediatric) and procedural sedation administration
• 2 professional references required — one must be supervisor level or above, the second may be a charge RN; all references must be from individuals who have worked with the candidate within the past year
• Candidate's home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility to be eligible

• Facility is STEMI Certified and Stroke Certified
• Charge RN assignments and holiday shift coverage required as needed
• Navy scrubs required
• RTO is limited to a maximum of 7 days for the contract period
• Pre-completion onboarding modules are required (approximately 10–15 hours total) and must be completed prior to the start date
• Travel partners are not accepted for this position
• First-time travelers are not eligible for this position
• Local candidates (within 75 miles of the facility) are not accepted
