American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Home Health position requiring at least 1 year of home care experience, orthopedic experience, and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Home health setting covering a territory ranging approximately 40–80 miles from first to last patient visit
• Clinicians are assigned to a POD (group of zip codes) and work with a multidisciplinary team to manage a consistent patient panel, with occasional support in other PODs as needed
• Point-of-care visits include wound care, wound VAC, IV therapy (antibiotics, TPN), post-ortho/joint care, incision assessment, post-surgical complication monitoring, post-stroke care, pneumonia management, trach care, G-tube feedings, ADL assessment, and patient education
• Average caseload of 5–20 visits per day using a daily point productivity system (5.2 points per day)
• Uses Epic for charting; experience with Epic is required
• Equipment used includes wound VAC, glucometer, pro-time/PT-INR machine, and IV pumps including central lines and ports
• Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts (8:00–17:00)
• On-call required after hours and on weekends, approximately every 3rd to 4th weekend
• Mileage reimbursed at $0.55/mile

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required; pending IL license may be accepted — please note status when applying
• Active MO RN license required at time of consideration
• Current BLS and phlebotomy certifications required
• Minimum 1–2 years of med-surg or acute care experience required
• Minimum 1 year of home health experience required
• Orthopedic nursing experience required
• Experience with Epic EMR required
• Experience with wound VAC, IV pumps, central lines/ports, and glucometer required
• Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility — local candidates are not accepted

Additional Information

• Provide skilled nursing visits including wound care, IV therapy, post-surgical and post-ortho assessments, trach care, G-tube management, and OASIS documentation
• Strong customer service skills and professional representation are expected in the home health setting
• Royal blue scrubs required
• RTO is limited to no more than 7 days per 13-week contract; no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Former permanent BJC employees must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travelers may work at BJC facilities for up to 18 months, after which a 3-month break in service is required
