American Traveler is hiring a travel RN for an Ambulatory Surgery Center position in Oklahoma City requiring at least 1 year of nursing experience, ACLS and PALS certifications, and strong PACU and IV skills.

Details

• Position is based in an ambulatory surgery center (ASC) setting
• Unit focuses on ophthalmic and surgical cases including cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, and plastics
• Patient population ranges from 6 months to 95 years of age
• Nurses are expected to recover Phase 1 PACU patients and manage airways, pain, and nausea post-operatively
• Day shift, 10-hour shifts, 4 days per week at 40 hours per week

Requirements

• Active RN license (OK state license or eNLC compact license) currently in hand
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association required
• PALS certification from the American Heart Association required
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience required; 2 years strongly preferred
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
• Strong IV skills required
• Ability to perform patient interviews, assessments, and instill prescribed pupil-dilating drops
• Ability to manage Phase 1 PACU recovery, airway management, and pain/nausea control
• Familiarity with surgical eye cases (cataracts, cornea, retina, glaucoma, plastics) strongly preferred
• Full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible — local candidates are not accepted
• Provides nursing care for patients with health problems ranging from simple to complex in a fast-paced surgical environment
• Responsibilities include patient assessment, medication administration, IV infusion management, physiological monitoring, and care coordination
• Collaborates with physicians during examinations and minor diagnostic procedures, and delegates tasks to support staff as appropriate
• Ability to maintain a fast pace and embrace teamwork is essential
• Candidates who have previously worked at this health system must have a 6-month separation period before being eligible to apply for a new contract (after a maximum of 26 cumulative weeks on assignment)
• Compliance requirements are strictly enforced — candidates must be prepared to begin onboarding immediately upon acceptance of an offer
