American Traveler is seeking an experienced travel RN for a Pediatric PACU position at a Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center, requiring at least one prior travel assignment and critical care pediatric experience.

• Pediatric Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) in a 885-bed Level 1 Trauma, academic medical center
• Unit features 20 open bays with an average daily census of 30–40 patients
• Serves pediatric patients ages 0–17 across most surgical specialties, excluding cardiac; both inpatient and outpatient
• Patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2 depending on acuity
• Occasional care for adult patients based on unit needs
• 12-hour day shifts, 0900–2100, 36 hours per week
• Nights, weekends, and holidays included in the on-call rotation (4–5 call shifts per 8-week period)
• EMR: Epic (experience required)
• IV pumps: Alaris; medication dispensing: Omnicell; monitors: Philips
• Nurses are responsible for telemetry monitoring

Requirements

• Active NC or compact RN license currently in hand
• Current BLS and PALS certifications required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in critical care pediatrics required; 2 years preferred
• Most recent experience must be within the last year
• Prior travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Comfort managing ICU-level drips including heparin, insulin, and cardiac medications
• Must have resided more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• At least 1 professional reference from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, dated within the past year
• Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provides post-anesthesia recovery care to pediatric surgical patients across most specialties, excluding cardiac
• Vented patients are transferred directly to the ICU; BiPAP is used only occasionally in post-operative settings
• Must be self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable working in an open bay, team-oriented environment
• Department support includes a transporter, HUC/receptionist, PACU educator, dedicated non-patient-care charge nurse/manager, and 24/7 anesthesia coverage
• Orientation includes one facility NEO day and 2 precepted shifts
• Scrubs are provided by the facility

• Candidates who have worked a permanent position at an AHSE facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible
