American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for a 13-week travel contract in Rapid City, SD, requiring Epic proficiency, TNCC certification, and a minimum of one prior travel assignment.

Details

• Mixed ICU setting with 39 beds encompassing MICU, SICU, CICU, and TICU
• Complex patient population including surgical, medical, cardiac, neuro, and trauma cases — diagnoses include ARDS, MI, CVA/TIA, COVID, post-cardiac cath, post-surgical, and multiple system trauma
• Cardiac experience is preferred, particularly CABG/TAVR 24–48 hrs post-op
• Patient ratios are acuity-dependent: 1:1, 1:2, or rarely 1:3
• 12-hour day shifts, 48 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation
• No on-call requirements
• Floating to adult floors (including Med/Surg/Tele at 1:4 ratio) is uncommon but possible if overstaffed
• EMR: Epic (required); also uses Alaris pumps (transitioning to Baxter) and Omnicell

Requirements

• Active RN license — SD license or compact license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS, and TNCC (required prior to start)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience, excluding travel experience, strongly preferred
• Candidates with at least 1.5 years of ICU experience (excluding travel) plus significant RN experience outside of ICU may be considered
• Minimum one prior travel assignment required — first-time travelers will not be considered
• Epic EMR experience required
• Experience with IV medications (vasopressors, sedation, paralytics), hemodynamic lines, proning, ventilator management, and telemetry
• Experience with Impella, IABP, and CRRT strongly preferred
• Must reside at least 100 miles from any Monument Health facility
• Two professional references dated within the past year required for consideration
• DOB and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Unit support includes 1–2 CNAs per unit plus a mobility float aide, 2 charge RNs overseeing all ICUs, a resource nurse (staffing-dependent), 24/7 respiratory therapy, and robust physician coverage (3 intensivists on days, 2 on nights plus an APP on nights)
• Orientation consists of a hospital orientation, one 12-hour shift, and one 8-hour shift on the ICU
• Navy scrubs required
• Free parking available on-site
• No RTO during holidays
• RTO of up to 7 days may be approved, but the contract must be extended to accommodate a full 13-week assignment
• No RTO during the Sturgis Bike Rally (first 3 weeks of August each year)
• Permanent staff must wait 1 year before returning to this facility as a traveler
