American Traveler is seeking an experienced Emergency Department RN for a 13-week travel contract requiring a minimum of 2 years of ED experience and active TNCC, ACLS, and PALS/ENPC certifications.

Details

• Acute care hospital Emergency Department with 24 beds and 3 trauma bays
• Fast track area and separate triage area are available; travelers may occasionally be assigned to triage
• ER holds are intermixed within the department; RNs are responsible for caring for their own holds
• No separate psych/seclusion rooms; in-house security is available
• Department sees approximately 80–90 patients per day with a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Common diagnoses include trauma, stroke, sepsis, CHF, and cardiac conditions
• Both ED physicians and mid-level providers are on staff, along with charge nurses and house supervisors
• Nurse aides, paramedics, and patient sitters are available on the unit
• RNs are responsible for ECG rhythm interpretation; no monitor techs on unit
• CT and X-ray are located adjacent to the ED; phlebotomy is performed by techs or RNs
• Respiratory therapy handles ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, high flow, ABGs, and breathing treatments
• Charting is done in Paragon EMR
• 12-hour variable evening and night shifts; self-scheduling with options including 9–9, 11–11, 1–1, and 3–3
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call or standby requirement
• Floating to other qualified units may be required

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) RN license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience required
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, TNCC, and PALS or ENPC — all must be active; pending certifications not accepted
• Ability to independently interpret ECG rhythms
• Copy of driver's license required for consideration
• 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Additional Information

• Unit-specific orientation is provided (12 hours)
• Navy scrubs required
• Every other holiday coverage is expected
• Candidates who have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible; candidates employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
