American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist with 2+ years of experience for a 13-week travel contract at a Critical Access Hospital, primarily serving LTC/Skilled Nursing patients with occasional floating across care settings.

Details

• LTC/Skilled Nursing Facility setting within a Critical Access Hospital (CAH)
• Primary time spent in LTC/Skilled Nursing; less than 10% of time in Outpatient setting
• May float between outpatient, inpatient swing bed, assisted living, and LTC/Skilled Nursing — including between the hospital and two nursing home locations (one approximately 25 miles away in Kadoka, SD)
• Patient caseload of 6–8 patients per day depending on overall department volume
• Common diagnoses include post-surgical, orthopedic (total joints, ORIF), neurologic (stroke, Parkinson's, MS), sports medicine, and complex medical cases
• Patients may range from immediately post-op to 1–2 months post-op recovery
• Day shift with flexible start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM; 5 x 8-hour shifts per week
• Weekend coverage occasionally required (rare); no holiday coverage required
• 13-week contract
• EMR: Epic

Requirements

• Active OT license required; SD OT license required if applicable
• Minimum 2 years of professional OT experience (clinical rotations do not count)
• LTC/Skilled Nursing experience preferred
• Long-term recovery therapy experience preferred
• Current BLS certification required
• Mobility Certified (COMS) certification required
• Candidates must reside more than 30 miles from the facility to be eligible

Additional Information

• Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of 3 PTs, 1 PTA, 1 COTA, and 1 SLP, supervised by a PT/DPT Director of Rehabilitation
• Rehab aide support available through 1 PTA and 1 COTA
• Orientation is typically 1 week, provided by the Director of Rehabilitation; full patient load of 6–8 patients/day expected by week 2
• Expected productivity is 75%
• Drive time is compensated when traveling to the off-site nursing home location
• Scheduling is managed by the DOR and Office Assistant; self-scheduling is not available
• Any color scrubs or business casual attire acceptable
