American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring frequent floating to ICU and MedSurg units, SC or compact RN license, and 2 years of PCU/ICU experience.

Details

• Stepdown/PCU unit that frequently floats to ICU and MedSurg units within the hospital
• 21-bed unit caring for cardiac, vascular, neurological, and renal patient populations
• Patient ratios of 1:4-5 on Stepdown, 1:2 on ICU, and 1:5-6 on MedSurg
• Manages non-titrating drips including Amiodarone, NTG, Cardizem, Lopressor, and Cardene
• Cares for vascular patients including fem-pop and CEA cases
• Cares for NSTEMI and post-cardiac cath with intervention patients
• Manages CIWA patients receiving IVP Ativan
• Provides care for peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis patients (HD performed in Dialysis Dept)
• Manages stable BiPAP, heated high flow <80%, and home ventilators (Trilogy)
• Performs wound care and nebulizer treatments
• Uses Meditech EMR
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Every other weekend (EOW) required
• Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
• 13-week assignment length

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license required
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown/ICU experience required
• ICU experience required in addition to PCU experience due to floating requirements
• Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
• Must be comfortable floating across Stepdown, ICU, and MedSurg units
• Prior charge nurse experience preferred
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and PICC line management
• Skilled in BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, and high flow nasal cannula
• Skilled in titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in wound care/wound vac management
• Skilled in pacemaker management and pre/post cardiac cath care

Additional Information

• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for the travel pay rate
• Must be comfortable with frequent floating due to high patient-to-caregiver ratios at this facility
• Floating occurs in rotation with staff, with appropriate orientation provided to new units
• Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
• Scrub color requirement: Royal Blue and White
• Weekly orientation held every Wednesday
• Minimal to no RTO permitted; any requested time off must be approved prior to assignment start and discussed during interview
• Previous employees must have been gone for at least 1 year and left in good standing to be considered
• First-time travelers may be considered for this role
