Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced OR RN with ophthalmology experience for an Ambulatory Surgery position requiring the ability to independently scrub and circulate.

Details

• Work in an ambulatory surgery setting within a 6-suite operating room department
• Average of 22 cases per day
• Common procedures include cataracts, corneal transplants, scleral buckles, vitrectomies, minor general surgery, minor spine stabilization, spinal cord stimulators, ENT and dental procedures
• Day shift position Monday through Friday, scheduled 6:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
• May be scheduled for later shifts to complete remaining cases
• Uses Epic EMR
• Call required a minimum of one weekday shift per week
• Call required up to every other weekend
• Holiday call rotation required
• 30-minute call response time required
• May be required to float to other surgical departments
• Charge Nurse or House Supervisor support available, except in the One Day Surgery Building

Requirements

• Active WV or compact RN license required
• Current BLS (AHA) certification required
• Minimum of 2 years of OR experience required
• Ophthalmology experience required
• Ability to independently perform cataract and corneal transplant cases required
• Ability to both scrub and circulate ambulatory surgery procedures required

Additional Information

• Scrubs provided
• Will complete hospital orientation followed by unit-specific orientation with staff in the One Day Surgery department
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be eligible for travel pay rate
• Previous travelers who worked at this facility system must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Previous permanent staff are not eligible to return as travelers at this facility
• Travelers are limited to a cumulative 1 year of work within the WVU system before requiring a 2-year break
