American Traveler is seeking an RN for a High Acuity ICU position requiring at least 1 year of critical care experience and active ACLS/BLS certifications.

Details

• Acute care setting in a High Acuity/ICU unit with 8 beds
• Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:2-3
• Cares for patients with respiratory failure, post-surgical needs, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac diagnoses
• Utilizes EPIC EMR system
• 12-hour day shifts scheduled 7:00 AM-7:30 PM
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend and to fill scheduling gaps
• Holiday rotation required and to fill scheduling gaps
• No current call or standby requirement, though subject to change
• ICU RNs may float to Med-Surg unit
• House Supervisor available 24/7 rather than unit-based charge nurse
• Respiratory Therapy available in-house 24/7
• Hospitalist/Intensivist on-site dayshift only, with tele-health MD coverage after hours
• Telemetry monitoring centrally managed by dedicated telemetry tech
• Nurses provide primary patient care with no nurse aides/patient care techs on unit

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA) required
• Minimum 1 year of RN experience required
• Experience with PEG tube care and feedings required
• Experience with CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care required
• Tracheostomy patient care experience required
• Experience caring for sedated and ventilated patients required
• Proficiency titrating vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips required (including Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, Cardizem)
• Experience with ventilators, CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow respiratory equipment required
• Negative drug screen required for all panels
• EPIC EMR experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide direct primary nursing care to critically ill ICU patients with no support from nurse aides or patient care techs
• Responsible for managing and troubleshooting ventilator, CPAP, BiPAP, and High Flow respiratory equipment
• Complete classroom orientation per facility policy plus 2 shifts on the unit with a preceptor
• Scrubs required in any color; only facility-approved t-shirts permitted
• Local rate applies to clinicians with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility
• No radius restriction for job eligibility
