American Traveler is hiring an RN for an Operating Room/Surgery MIDS position requiring a LA or compact RN license and BLS certification, with on-call and floating requirements.

Details

• Hospital-based Operating Room/Surgery unit setting
• Patient population includes limited pediatric (ortho only), adult, and geriatric cases
• Primary campus performs Ortho (Mako total knees/total hip/gamma nails), Podiatry, Hand, Spine/Crani, General surgery, and Urology procedures
• Float campus location covers Pain, ENT (including pediatric), Urology, Gynecology, Podiatry, General, and some Ortho cases
• Nurse to patient ratio of 1:1
• 13-week assignment length
• Full time schedule, MIDS shift 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday
• On-call required 1-2 times per week and every 3rd weekend (Friday-Sunday)
• Floating required between primary campus and float campus location, limited to OR

Requirements

• Active RN license in Louisiana or compact license required
• BLS certification required
• BSN preferred
• 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive nursing care utilizing the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for surgical patients
• Administer medications and treatments while monitoring for side effects and treatment effectiveness
• Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed
• Candidates who previously worked at any CHRISTUS facility (non-travel) must be separated for 6 months prior to submission for this travel assignment, applicable across the entire CHRISTUS Health System
