American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Long Length of Stay/Acute unit requiring WA or compact RN license and at least 1 year of experience.

• Medical Surgical unit within a Short Term Acute Care hospital
• Long Length of Stay (LLOS) and acute Med/Surg patient population, including dementia/autistic and acute patients
• Patients include surgical cases requiring overnight stays, procedural observation, medical observation, and some long length of stay cases
• Patient ratios are 1:4 on days, 1:5 on nights, and 1:5 on weekends
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
• Every other weekend (EOW) shift requirement
• Floating required between similar units within skill set
• No on-call requirements
• Epic EMR used and experience is required

Requirements

• Active WA or compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of recent RN experience required
• LTAC experience preferred
• Epic charting experience required
• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, port access/management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Experience with colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care preferred
• Experience with neurological and psychiatric conditions such as CVA, mood disorders, and traumatic brain injury preferred
• Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac required
• Experience with oxygen administration and nasal cannula use required
• Experience managing renal failure patients and surgical drains preferred
• Acute care experience required

Additional Information

• Provide direct nursing care to a mix of acute and long length of stay Med/Surg patients
• Float between similar units within the facility as needed based on skill set
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible for a travel contract
• Former permanent staff must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must live more than 50 miles from the facility
• Minimal RTO preferred, ideally under 7 days
• Pending license candidates will not be considered
